What were some personal touches at your (oh-so-fab*) wedding?

- I wore Mike’s great-grandmother’s locket as my “something borrowed”.

- We used the same cake server that my mother and father used on their wedding day. One side is engraved with their names and wedding date and now the other side bears our names and wedding date.

- Celebrating Mike’s British heritage, instead of a “penny in my shoe”, I carried an authentic six pence coin from the reign of England’s Elizabeth I dating back to 1580.

* Becky ~ they also had fabulous signature drinks and really let their baker go to town, resulting in a

unique and whimsical creation

What were your favorite online wedding planning blogs/websites?

Honestly, we weren’t that into any of the wedding planning sites. However, since we had family and friends attending the wedding from England, we did make good use of our “WeddingWindow” website that offered reliable, up-to-date details for those folks with whom we couldn’t talk with on a regular basis.

What aspect of your wedding did you splurge on?

Instantaneously, we answered as follows... Erin: “Photographer. Worth every penny.”

Mike: “All of it”. Hmmm…go figure!

What piece of advice would you give to future couples and/or what would you change about your wedding day?

Be as specific as possible with the vendors with which you partner. (And, yes, it is a partnership.) Their vision does not always equate to yours even though you feel synched up. For example, while the flowers at the site where the actual ceremony took place were lovely, they were not at all what I had in my mind and I would have preferred the effect to be very different than what actually happened. However, when reviewing the contract I signed with them, they more than held up their end of the agreement.

When selecting someone to entrust with your wedding day, why did you choose Something to Celebrate?

After interviewing 2 other options, and feeling quite discouraged about the whole thing (given the fact that I wasn’t sure we really needed someone to plan the wedding with me), we met with Becky Brock. We instantly clicked. I knew that we would work very well together and I was right! She was nothing but professional, methodical, punctual, helpful and, best of all, calming throughout the whole process. Everyone who came across her from our friends and family loved her. And, to top it all off, I’ve made a wonderful friend whom I hope to stay in touch with for years to come…
