Weddings to Celebrate: Ryanne and Jason, Laguna Gloria | Austin Wedding Planner

Ryanne and Jason are the sweetest couple. They have actually known each other since middle school (cue collective "ahhh!"). Jason was one of those grooms who was very involved in the planning, which always makes me happy. Not only did he attend most of our meetings, but he also made the arbor they got married under and the groom's cake base, a replica of Kyle Field (see pics below). I was so impressed!

They got married at Laguna Gloria, which has such a special quality of making you feel like you are tucked away at a romantic Italian villa. Their ceremony was in the Amphitheater, which borders the lake (and also offers some shade!). The guests enjoyed dinner al fresco on the side lawn, and dancing under the tent on the patio. It was a perfect night!

They hired me for day-of coordination, as well as decor design. Because Laguna Gloria is so naturally beautiful, Ryanne wanted simple decor that played off the elegance of the surroundings. Our starting point was lanterns she had purchased for the tables and the Kelly green bridesmaid dresses. Jason chose khaki suits for his groomsmen, which also informed our decor choices. We accented that palette with purple, light green and white flowers. It turned out beautifully!

Ryanne and Jason, I truly enjoyed working with y'all and I wish you years of happiness ahead!

Jason added a digital photo frame as the jumbo tron, which showed pictures of him and Ryanne. Too cute!

Weddings To Celebrate :: Elizabeth and Matt, Laguna Gloria

I had the pleasure of being the "day of" wedding coordinator for Elizabeth and Matt at Laguna Gloria. Like most of our Austin clients, Elizabeth and Matt live out-of-state, so we met only once before their big weekend, and the majority of our collaboration was over the phone or email. These two are genuinely good people, and it was such an honor to help them enjoy their day.

Elizabeth and Matt - congratulations! Thank you for trusting me with the details of your celebration. I enjoyed getting to know you a bit, and look forward to Facebook updates. :) If anyone captured video of the special song your friends composed/performed for you, I'd love to see it! That was an impressive performance!

Best,
jessica

Weddings to Celebrate :: Stirling + Josh!

Stirling and Josh hired me one year ago to help with some planning and the day-of coordination for their Laguna Gloria wedding. They were planning long-distance from NYC, but by the time their wedding day came, they were living here in Austin! Austin is lucky to have them. :)

Working with Stirling and Josh was a treat. And seeing them enjoy their wedding day was such a pleasure!

Thank you, Stirling and Josh, for making my job the best job in the world. Please stay in touch!!

Love,

Ashley + Jason at Laguna Gloria | Austin Wedding Planning

I was so honored to help Ashley and Jason celebrate their amazing day. Ashley is a friend of one of my favorite past couples -- Erin & Mike -- and we had so much fun planning together, along with Mama Connie!

Fabulous fall weather made for a stunning reception at the always lovely Laguna Gloria. There were so many special touches at this wedding. From the pre-ceremony cocktail hour featuring the couple's favorite kicked up Arnold Palmer cocktail to the menu featuring all of the family's favorites. Guests enjoyed tasty pork tenderloin sliders, "Moonshine" corndog shrimp and mini mac and cheeses.

Chestnut, persimmon, spice and golds provided the color palette for their evening. The rich fall colors were accented by the peacock blue bridesmaids dresses. So pretty!

Guests had a fabulous time dancing to the couple's favorite band, The Stingrays. And a midnight snack of sweet potato fries and espresso shots helped fuel the after party for these fun party people.

Ashley and Jason -- many wishes for a happy life together!

The Anticipation... right before she walks down the aisle | Austin Laguna Gloria Wedding

I love this fabulous shot from one of my favorite weddings of the year. Okay, two shots. But they were both so great, I couldn't decide.

It's that moment right before we head downstairs for the ceremony. There are tears, dancing, deep breathing ... anything to keep you from getting too nervous ;)

And then it's your time!

Savor every moment.

~Becky

Thanks to Studio 563 the great work... More pictures from Ashley & Jason's big day to come!

Meet Erin & Mike | Laguna Gloria | Austin Wedding Planner

Erin + Mike

Where's home?

Austin, TX

Where was your wedding?

Austin Museum of Art - Laguna Gloria

How long have you been married?

5 months

Where did you honeymoon?

Kauai, Hawaii

What were some personal touches at your (oh-so-fab*) wedding?

- I wore Mike’s great-grandmother’s locket as my “something borrowed”.

- We used the same cake server that my mother and father used on their wedding day. One side is engraved with their names and wedding date and now the other side bears our names and wedding date.

- Celebrating Mike’s British heritage, instead of a “penny in my shoe”, I carried an authentic six pence coin from the reign of England’s Elizabeth I dating back to 1580.

* Becky ~ they also had fabulous signature drinks and really let their baker go to town, resulting in a

unique and whimsical creation

.

What were your favorite online wedding planning blogs/websites?

Honestly, we weren’t that into any of the wedding planning sites. However, since we had family and friends attending the wedding from England, we did make good use of our “WeddingWindow” website that offered reliable, up-to-date details for those folks with whom we couldn’t talk with on a regular basis.

What aspect of your wedding did you splurge on?

Instantaneously, we answered as follows... Erin: “Photographer. Worth every penny.”

Mike: “All of it”. Hmmm…go figure!

What piece of advice would you give to future couples and/or what would you change about your wedding day?

Be as specific as possible with the vendors with which you partner. (And, yes, it is a partnership.) Their vision does not always equate to yours even though you feel synched up. For example, while the flowers at the site where the actual ceremony took place were lovely, they were not at all what I had in my mind and I would have preferred the effect to be very different than what actually happened. However, when reviewing the contract I signed with them, they more than held up their end of the agreement.

When selecting someone to entrust with your wedding day, why did you choose Something to Celebrate?

After interviewing 2 other options, and feeling quite discouraged about the whole thing (given the fact that I wasn’t sure we really needed someone to plan the wedding with me), we met with Becky Brock. We instantly clicked. I knew that we would work very well together and I was right! She was nothing but professional, methodical, punctual, helpful and, best of all, calming throughout the whole process. Everyone who came across her from our friends and family loved her. And, to top it all off, I’ve made a wonderful friend whom I hope to stay in touch with for years to come…

Erin + Mike at Laguna Gloria | Austin Wedding Planning

Erin and Mike are married! From our first meeting, I knew we had to work together. Erin is so fun and Mike is a Pimm's drinking Brit just like me! Side note -- if you know what a Pimm's Cup is, we should work together.

Where to start... the intimate ceremony at Laguna Gloria? Or the Brits breakdancing to Footloose? Or all the crazy fun props that appeared out of nowhere. Check out the stache on the baby. Good times.

What can I say. It was a total party. A beautiful, touching and fabulous evening. And I was so honored to have been a part of it.

Congrats Erin and Mike!

xo,

Becky

Thanks to SMS Photography for capturing their day.

Julie and Jason's Laguna Gloria Wedding | Austin Wedding Planner

Jason and Julie tied the knot at the beautiful Laguna Gloria -- the day was miraculously dry and turned out perfectly. Thanks to 2Dine4 for the fabulous food, Last Petal for the awesome flowers – check out the ring box – and Suzanna Choffel (Julie’s sister) for the music. They walked down the aisle to one of my favorite songs – Heavenly Day by Patty Griffin – it rocked!

Thanks to you two and your awesome families for letting me be a part of your special day!

Jason and Julie made my day with this note:

Dear Becky,

What would we have done without your help?! Thank you so much for your divine competence. We are so grateful that people like you exist in the world.

All the best,

Julie & Jason

P.S. Thanks for all of your ideas and extra touches – like the sunset candles!

P.P.S. We had so much fun! Thanks for taking the worry out of our day and letting us breathe.

P.P.P.S. Everyone at the wedding wants to hire you now! All were impressed.

Meredith and Steve, Laguna Gloria | Austin Wedding Coordinator

Meredith first contacted me about coordinating the Launch Party for Rare Magazine. I was so thrilled to continue working with her, but this time on her beautiful wedding at Laguna Gloria. Meredith and Steve went to the same college as me (Trinity University) and at the same time, but we didn't know each other. I'm so glad we had a chance to get to know each other over the past year. I hope we stay in touch!
