Kailey + Henry’s Starwars Theme, Magnolia Hotel Wedding | Houston Wedding Planner

We had the great pleasure of working with Kailey and Henry to plan their fall wedding day at The Magnolia Hotel in Houston. This was actually our fourth wedding we have helped Kailey’s family plan - what an honor! For this wedding, K+H envisioned their fete as one filled with personal details, like nods to their love for the movie “Up” and Star Wars, Kailey’s love of sunflowers and blue (with warm tones as a nod to fall), a wonderful menu, and plenty of dancing.

Before their celebration officially commenced, they each spent their mornings getting ready. They opted to enjoy two first looks – one between Kailey and her dad and a second between the bride and her almost husband. We loved how they didn’t choose between the two, but instead honored both relationships beautifully! Then, Kailey and Henry gathered with their close family members and friends for their ketubah signing. This is one of the Jewish wedding traditions we enjoy the most.

Guests mingled together before the ceremony officially began, and our team couldn’t help but take a few extra peeks at the design. A chuppah draped in white awaited the couple, along with plenty of florals by Last Petal. The sunflowers truly popped against the blue palette!

Post vows, Kailey and Henry toasted to their new union together and rejoined their guests in the ballroom at The Magnolia Hotel for dinner, dancing, and plenty of cake. Similar to the ceremony space, tables were adorned with sunflower centerpieces, and guests dined on a menu by The Magnolia Hotel. Guests could not get enough of the dance floor, and the fun continued during Henry’s Star Wars groom’s cake presentation by Thirteen Bakery. Just before Kailey and Henry’s reception officially came to a close, their guests lined either side of the ballroom to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. during their all-too-appropriate light saber exit!

Kailey and Henry infused so much of their personalities throughout their wedding day, and it was a joy to join together with them and their families. Thank you to Chip Gillespie Photography for capturing all of the fun and details!

Ambrea + Rodney's Sandlewood Manor Houston Wedding Featured on Weddings in Houston

Ambrea and Rodney have New Orleans roots and love the city’s food scene and culture. They choose Sandlewood Manor in Tomball because it reflects their love of New Orleans - representing the beauty of Louisiana right here in Texas.

Their large black-tie affair (330+ guests) was hosted in late September. The decor was elegant, bold, and hands down, one of the most stunning of our fall season! The purples, plums, bordeaux, and midnight blue tones were incredibly rich and added so much depth to the design!

These two are chic and fashion-forward, so it was no surprise to hear that they would both be changing up their attire during the day. We’re pretty sure Rodney’s custom velvet tuxedo jackets will make some waves on Pinterest!

Wedding Ceremony

Ambrea’s bouquet tops the list of one of our five favorites of 2019. The cascading design with large orchids was as beautiful as Ambrea (she is gorgeous on the inside and out).

Ambrea’s “must-have” for the ceremony was the mirrored aisle runner. The design revolved around this eye-catching addition. The runner was flanked with low & lush arrangements that lead up to the giant oak tree — a focal point of the Sandlewood Manor’s property. The oak tree was adorned with a cascading floral arrangement and a full swag of sheer plum fabric.

We included a shot of the acrylic unplugged wedding ceremony sign - it’s lovely and functional. We encourage all of our couples to hold an unplugged ceremony. We can’t tell you the number of photos we’ve seen that are ruined by Aunt Kay’s iPad or cousin Larry’s iPhone. Although etiquette should dictate that those know better, a little guidance never hurts.

You’re investing in a professional photographer for a reason, right? Let them do their job so everyone can enjoy this once in a lifetime moment!

Wedding Reception

What. A. Stunner! The reception was all about the guests’ enjoyment — good food, epic entertainment (check out the live event painter - it was a full performance), and lush decor.

One of our favorite moments of the reception was the grand exit. Nothing says New Orleans like a traditional Second Line. It was the perfect ending to an amazing event!

Wedding Colors

Shades of plum, Bordeaux, light grey and midnight blue

Seema + Anish's Renaissance Austin Wedding | Indian Wedding Planner

During the New Year, we have a habit of reflecting and remembering the milestone moments. As we enter the new DECADE, we are blown away by the amazing couples we’ve had the privilege to work with. This family is extra special to us because this is our second time working with them- one of our team members planned Seema’s brother’s wedding over a decade (so crazy to write that) ago, so this family is near and dear to their hearts. Being able to celebrate with them during two different decades is the highest honor. So of course we’re kicking off 2020 recapping the day with you!

Some of you may know that Indian weddings are multi-day celebrations filled with a variety of events, and it was our sincere pleasure to help with every moment of this wedding.

We leave you with some parting lyrics from one of their ceremony songs, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by IZ Kamakawiwo'ole…

Someday, I wish upon a star

Wake up where the clouds are far behind me

Where trouble melts like lemon drops

High above the chimney top

That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow

Bluebirds fly

And the dreams that you dare to

Oh why, oh why can't I?

Well, I see trees of green and red roses too

I'll watch them bloom for me and you

And I think to myself

What a wonderful world

Lauren and Salen's Villa Del Lago Wedding | Austin Wedding Designer & Planner

Formal Jewish Wedding Austin- Something to Celebrate_0215.jpg

You’d never have known that on Lauren + Salen’s wedding day, a huge storm rolled through 10 minutes before the guests started to arrive. It was crazy rain and wind! So crazy, in fact, that we had to enact plan B (and C) in a hurry!

The vendor team was phenomenal, with the photographer, videographer, caterer, and DJ all helping us to get everything moved and re-set undercover, and with an SOS call to the florist, their team turned back to construct a new chuppah from scratch.

But looking at the photos now, you can see that the couple made the best of it and everyone was all smiles in time for the ceremony!

This beautiful venue, Villa Del Lago, is one of our favorites, but has a new owner and isn’t continuing events past the end of this year. We’re so happy Lauren and Salen were able to host their wedding here- as it was a perfect fit for them, despite the initial weather challenges.

Wedding Details

Lauren’s first look with her dad gave us ALL the feels.

This was a full kosher wedding.

The black and white color palette was timeless and stunning!

Carly + Caleb's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Coordinator

Wedding at Ma Maison - Austin Wedding Planner_0550.jpg

Carly and Colt’s wedding was hosted on a crisp February day at Ma Maison. These two were a breeze to work with- the day was dedicated to their love and focused on a laid-back yet, elegant celebration.

Austin Wedding Venue

The couple held their ceremony outside at The Grove. This is one of the shining stars of the venue- it has a built-in stone around and a gorgeous surrounding landscape of trees. The arch was decorated with a lush floral arrangement and the aisle was lined with burgundy rose petals. Wild Bunches accented the ceremony chairs with clusters of greenery (a variety of eucalyptus and a touch of hearty ruscus).

After a few photos (aren’t their pups adorable?!), it was time for their reception in The Great Hall. Almost 150 friends and family members joined the Newlyweds for a delicious buffet dinner and dancing.

Wedding Colors

The couple selected a beautiful mix of burgundy, ivory and peach, with plenty of greenery accents. Carly’s bouquet was absolutely gorgeous -the cascading burgundy amaranth added so much movement & dimension. It paired beautifully with the soft flowiness (we know this isn’t a real word, but it should be!) of her dress. We also loved the mixed styled bridesmaids’ dresses.

Meredith + Stephen's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Planner

Reception at Ma Maison - Austin Wedding Planner_0497.jpg

When Plan B turns out just as pretty as Plan A, we’re happy campers! Meredith and Steven’s Ma Maison early spring wedding was one for the books. The decor was super chic, the couple an absolute blast and everyone a complete pleasure to work with.

Although the couple originally planned to get married in The Grove, the call was made to move the cocktail hour space, The Trellis. This indoor-outdoor space still offers a great view of the surrounding grounds, but much more protection from the elements. It was an absolutely gorgeous ceremony - but truthfully, the design elements would have been stunning just about anywhere! Big shout-out to Wild Bunches for being so great about the changes!

The couple was still able to take advantage of the grounds and got some stunning photos in front of The Green Cathedral (perhaps one of the most signature visuals at Ma Maison).

Matt + Katy's Julia Ideson Library Wedding | Houston Wedding Designer & Planner

Houston Wedding Planner- Julia Ideson Library_0370.jpg

Matt and Katy’s wedding was a literary lovers dream! The couple selected the Julia Ideson Library as their ceremony and reception venue. The architectural detail in this building is insanely beautiful and set the stage for their classic wedding perfectly.

These two knew how to enhance their reception venue while also incorporating things that they loved- which made our job easy!

Their ceremony was held in the Julia Ideson Library Auditorium. Their vows were exhanged in front of a solid Ivory backdrop with an overlay of organza with hanging LED curtain lights, falling to the floor, between the two fabrics. It was dreamy!

Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour was hosted in the Tudor Gallery.

Book Lovers Wedding Details

The reception was hosted in the Reading Room.

First, they used a card catalog for the escort card display and bookmarks as escort cards. This is one of the first details at your reception that cues your guests into any themes or colors you may have woven into the day. This really set the perfect tone!

Second, the game of life was the guest signature item. Katy and Matt love playing board games, so this was a great personal touch and also a fun nod to what’s ahead in their future!

Last, they utilizing books in the tablescapes as table numbers and for the base of the cake. We love this so much! The cake was a beautifully textured, four-tier buttercream creation with cascading white flowers. Alone it was beautiful. But sitting atop of a ruffled champagne linen and adding the books at the base took the display over the top. It was eye-catching and equal parts fun + elegant!

We have to say that we loved the ivory ruffled linen choice on all of the tables (they were on half of the round tables). It was a fun textural element and actually coordinated with Katy’s awesome ball gown style wedding dress!

Wedding Colors

White, ivory, champagne, hints of gold, greenery touches.

Katie + Ryan's St. Regis Houston Wedding Reception | Houston Wedding Coordinator

Houston Weddings St. Regis - Something to Celebrate_0307.jpg

Katie and Ryan are an incredibly sweet couple. Their wedding day was traditional and elegant, just like these two!

Church Ceremony

One of our absolute favorite moments of the day was just seconds before Katie walked down the long aisle of St. Luke’s Methodist. While Katie excitedly looked ahead, her dad was catching a glimpse of the joy on her face. You can almost feel his pride. Our heart fluttering kicks into high gear during these moments because it’s really what the day is about. A HUGE moment with REAL emotion. We shared the image on Instagram too- but added in Ryan’s Mom’s expression. Seriously, these two parents gave us all the feels!

Wedding Reception Details

The couple selected blush, white and gold, adding pops of purple and a bit of deep green (thanks to the chargers provided by St. Regis). Tables were draped in champagne linens with soft white overlays and a mix of tall and low arrangements. It worked really well in the ballroom!

The reception was an epic party. The Pictures Band knows how to keep a group high energy! We almost had to tear this crew off the dance floor.

The confetti exit wrapped up the night beautifully! Congratulations again, Mr & Mrs. Chamberlain!

Megan + Blaise's Briscoe Manor Wedding | Houston Wedding Designer & Planner

Formal Wedding Party Photo- Houston Wedding

For Megan and Blaise, we helped them pick their venue, created the design concept, and pretty much everything in between! We love helping our clients from start to finish- we really get a chance to know them and help them pull together the best team for their needs (and budget)!

Briscoe Manor was the perfect venue to give the couple two distinctive areas to host the wedding. They were able to have an indoor ceremony at the chapel and the reception in the Crofton Ballroom, which feels like a completely different venue. The courtyard that separates the two was perfect for a few cocktail tables & milling about after their vows and before the party!

Wedding Colors

Blush, ivory, greenery, gold, and rose gold.

Megan and Blaise are super sweet and really wanted a day that celebrated their love, above all else. They were laid back and low-key. The vibe of the day was understated elegance- a great mix of warm (hello Mahogany chiavari chairs and farm tables) + inviting ambiance and pretty details.

Kelly + Wes's Allan House Wedding | Austin Wedding Designer & Planner

Wedding at The Allan House- Austin TX Planner_0848.jpg

Kelly and Wes’s Allan House wedding was a dream! This outdoor garden fairytale was brimming with classic, chic details. We were delighted to help this sweet couple with everything from their budget to their vendor selections.

The wedding day was incredibly Intimate (under 90 guests) - the ambiance was fantastic and there was no shortage of great food and fantastic music. We love that the couple prioritized having an amazing experience for themselves and the guests.

Wedding Menu

We had so much fun with Kelly and Wes at their tastings to design this menu!

For cocktail hour, Steak tartare spoons, Mushroom polenta cakes and Blackened shrimp tostadas were passed in the courtyard while we flipped the room (as we say in wedding world) from ceremony to reception set-up.

The plated dinner was either Texas Ribeye or Seared Redfish with Duck Fat Roasted Potatoes, Roasted Asparagus with lemon vinaigrette and Kabocha Squash with farro and parmesan. You’ll see the tiniest F or S at the bottom of each place card, which allowed the servers to know which mean each guest selected. Tip- an option is to switch up the colors or design on the cards or add some kind of embellishment (feathers, hand drawn detail, stamp, etc.)

Music Choices

As the cocktail hour came to a close, guests heard “Your Hand In Mine” by Explosions in the Sky.

Mr & Mrs Wray were introduced to the tune of “When the Levee Breaks” by Led Zeppelin and the couple shared their first dance and husband and wife to "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison.

Kelly and her dad chose "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor for the Father-Daughter dance, while Wes and his mom selected "Days Like This" by Van Morrison for Mother-Son dance.

A bit later in the evening the band surprised the officiant with their rendition of Happy Birthday.

To wrap up the night, Kelly and Wes shared a private Last Dance to "My First, My Last, My Everything" by Barry White performed live, once guests cleared courtyard. It was an ADORABLE moment that every couple deserves! If you want to have some private time with your sweetie during the wedding day, a first look and/or last dance is a great time to do it.

Be sure to check out the couple’s hashtag, #KellyGetsHerWray. Congrats again Mr & Mrs. Wray!

Eric & Liza's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Designer & Planner

03_03_2019_Eric _ Liza Wedding-606.jpg

If you follow us on Instagram, you likely already know that we love Ma Maison weddings! This venue has so much to offer- lots of character, plenty of space and gorgeous landscapes. it’s one of our favorites in the Austin area and we’re thrilled to share Eric + Liza’s wedding day with you!

Although the weather wasn’t exactly cooperative (let’s say spring wasn’t feeling ready to be “sprung”), it was still a gorgeous day for this duo!

Wedding colors

Eric and Liza wanted a French Garden inspired theme. They couple went for a color palette that we’re calling a the new classic- white and blush, with touches of taupe, green and just a hint of purple. It was organic, without tipping the scales to boho. It was also fresh and light, which pairs great with Ma Maison’s warm wood interior .

Wedding Ceremony

Liza did a first look with her dad, as well as her brother. When we had the opportunity to see their photos, It was one of our favorite moments captured during the day. It didn’t surprise us one bit that everyone got a bit emotional- she looked stunning! Eric’s expression when she walked down the aisle was about as good as it gets! It was a tear-jerker as well and man, it just hit us right in the heart.

The couple said their vows outdoors, surrounded by the lush landscape of Ma Maison. The lovely built-in arch was covered in greenery and white, blush, lavender florals by the talented Stems Floral! The really made it look effortlessly beautiful.

Wedding Reception

The decor for Eric and Liza’s wedding was elegant and inviting. Again, greenery made a big statement, as well as a combination of high and low centerpieces in fluffy florals of white with blush and purple accents. The tables were accented with lovely taupe linens (but we have to say, they photographed so beautifully, emitting a bit of a metallic hue). We also loved the mixed metal look with all the rich wood tones and white florals. It all came together so beautifully- polished and pretty!

Katie + Jonathan's Villa Del Lago Wedding | Austin Wedding Designer & Planner

Villa Del Lago Wedding - Austin Wedding Planner_0575.jpg

Katie and Jonathan’s Villa Del Lago wedding was absolutely incredible! Despite mother nature’s attempt (and subsequent success) to rain on the wedding day, we made the best of a dreary situation and everything turned our beautifully! Really, if you’re going to have to go to Plan B we hope it’s with gorgeous canopies of lights just like these tents. STUNNING.

There were so many things we loved about this wedding.

First, we have to talk about Katie’s gorgeous dress. She looked stunning. The low V neckline, sparkling fabric and intricate appliqué detail made this a jaw-dropping statement piece that she absolutely radiated in. It was 100% made for her! Jonathan’s expression when he saw Katie for the first time confirmed that this statement-making gown was everything and more than they could ever could have expected or hoped for!

Another thing that we adored about Katie and Jonathan’s wedding day was the floral! The moon arch for the ceremony was perfection. The circular shape has beautiful symbolism and creates the perfect “frame” for vows, and later photos. The personal flowers (bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, flower crowns) were darling- fluffy and full white + blush blooms with touches of greenery. All of the florals created an elegant, inviting ambiance that worked wonderfully at Villa Del Lago.

There are so many details that were customized to this sweet couple.

  • The colorful design of the stationery was a nod to Jonathan’s heritage, along with the wall of Swedish candy.

  • Each food station was themed to reflect a favorite restaurant of Katie and Jonathan’s, and they even designed and built them themselves (with the help of some very talented and generous friends)!

And the personal touches didn’t stop there - the ceremony was officiated by one of Katie’s dear friends (an Austin judge) and the cake was made by Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez, and proclamations were delivered at dinner by Mayor Adler, Senator Watson, and Congressman Doggett.

Lastly (although, we truly could go on and on about these two & their big day) is the endless and bountiful laughter shared by everyone. Katie smiled non-stop. Her laughter is absolutely contagious and it’s no doubt that genetics plays a big roll. Her parents are just the sweetest and were overjoyed for this union. They know (as well as everyone else) that this two are perfectly matched. We aren’t sure who giggled, laughed and grinned more, but it sure did feel good to be in their presence.

We loved working with Katie, Jonathan, their friends + family on every step of the design and planning to bring their wedding day to fruition. We also helped Katie & Jonathan with their rehearsal dinner: at Lucy’s on the Lake (more on that later)!

Emily + Ross' Lakeway Resort and Spa Wedding | Austin Wedding Planner

Emily and Ross’ Lakeway Resort and Spa wedding was one of the most joyful days we’ve ever had the pleasure of planning/coordinating. Seriously, this couple is SO nice and Emily is one of the happiest people we’ve ever met. Emily and Ross were so genuinely excited to get married. They spent almost the entire day grinning ear to ear. It was awesome!

Austin Wedding Venue

The Lakeway Resort has a stunning view, gorgeous grounds and amazing staff- which was just icing on the cake for us (and our couple). They have plenty of indoor space (over 24,000 square feet) with panoramic views of Lake Travis. They boast a “rustic chic” vibe, but we think it can be transformed into just about anything with the right team!

Hotel Ella Wedding- Austin Wedding + Event Planner_0144.jpg

Jordan and Nick’s Hotel Ella wedding was the sweetest southern celebration with countless timeless touches. These two have such warm, loving personalities and working with them was a breeze! Not only did they choose one of our favorite venues for their ceremony + reception, but they worked with some of our favorite vendors too (Spacecraft Entertainment always knows how to keep the party moving)!

The timeless wedding got a modern POP of color from the prettiest purple shade - it was incorporated in the bridesmaid’s dresses and men’s ties. Otherwise, they kept is classic with lots of white, touches of grey, gold and greenery. Jordan’s monochromatic white bouquet included lush peonies and huge ranunculus- a combination that we obsess over every time. Truly gorgeous!

Some of our favorite details- the scarves on every other ceremony chair (although it doesn’t look like it, it was a CHILLY day), the monogram detail on the bridesmaid’s prep PJs and the miniature pies at each place setting for the favors.

Be sure to watch Jordan + Nick’s awesome video by Ladybird! We highly recommend getting a videographer for the big day- it’s always so much fun to see the wedding played back. It goes so darn fast!

Erin + Andy's Prosper House Wedding | Austin Wedding Coordinator

Minimalistic TX Venue Prosper House -Austin Wedding Planner_0347.jpg

There are few things better for us than meeting a couple that wants a wedding that is quintessentially them. When you aren’t worried about trends or what your best friend did, but what matters to you as a couple, your wedding is going to be exponentially better. Having a vision for how you want it to feel and what you want the day to represent is so very helpful to us as planners! We want to pull those elements in while also using our expertise to guide you along the way for all the things that you might not think about.

Erin and Andy’s wedding was a beautiful culmination of all the things that make them, them. They made our job so easy and were troopers when we had to revert to our back-up rain plan for their ceremony .

Fun fact- this adorable duo lives in Australia, so we didn’t meet in-person until the day before the wedding!

Austin Wedding Venue

From the stunning, minimalistic decor to the epic party bus departure, we’re smitten #allthethings from this Prosper House wedding.

The Prosper House’s main hall is 3,000 square feet with 15 foot tall ceilings- the bright, airy quality makes it perfect for the couple who wants to feel as if they’re outdoors, but would prefer the comfort of a/c! Although they can accommodate up to 220, they’re perfectly suitable for smaller events too.

Kady + Nathan's Brazos Hall Wedding | Austin Wedding Designer & Planner

If it’s appropriate to start a blog post with Oh My Goodness, consider it done! Kady and Nathan’s Brazos Hall wedding was a stunner! These two are so in love and so much fun. Working with this family was a blast. We planned and designed the day, but have to admit that this group had great style already. Taking their vision, sprinkling in a few added details and pulling together the stellar vendor team resulted in the absolute perfect day for them.

The Austin Wedding Venue:

Both ceremony and reception were hosted at Brazos Hall. The ceremony was outside on the covered rooftop deck. The reception was inside the main hall. A classic and clean color palette of white with touches of greenery, copper and warm wood tones worked beautifully for the elegant, industrial venue. The tabletop design included beautiful metallic elements and loads of candlelight. So romantic! The show-stopper, however, was the suspended floral arrangement over the head table. This installation was the centerpiece for the reception and anchored the entire design.

Personal Details:

Kady’s brother happens to be fashion designer, Brandon Maxwell. He designed ALL of the ladies’ attire (including Kady’s dress and her rehearsal jumpsuit, which you can see HERE ). If you’re a fashion focused couple (and even if you aren’t), you’re in for a treat! Brandon dresses the likes of Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton, so of course everyone looked AMAZING! All of the ladies wore white, which we just loved. Everyone was uniquely attired and it was a true focal point of the day.

If you want to do some Insta stalking, their wedding hashtag was #wisedupmaxedout!

The below “pre-event” photos are courtesy of Jerry Hayes. We’re pretty obsessed with this design (and have a feeling you might be too), so we didn’t think you’d mind a Wedding Details for Days specific gallery! Now, get to pinning!

Real Couples: Sonia + Charles

Meet Sonia & Charles! I am so excited they hired me to act as their "day of" coordinator. From the moment I met them, I knew I wanted to be a part of their wedding day. I could have talked to them for hours! Learn more about them below...

Names:

Sonia Escobar & Charles Moss

Where's Home?

We are originally from Killeen, TX.

Why a Houston Wedding?

When we first started planning, we intended on holding the event in Killeen since a majority of our family live there. BUT when we did our research we didn't have very many options as far as vendors went. On top of that, we would've had to drive 3 1/2 hours every other weekend, and it wasn't worth the stress! So it just made more sense to have our ceremony in the city that we reside. Though most of our guest list are out of towners, we figure the people who really care about us will show up to celebrate. Remember ladies, its not about what everyone else wants, its about what you and your fiance want!

Length of engagement?

A little over a year.

How long until the wedding?

115 DAYS!!!

Who did you first tell you were engaged?

EVERYONE!! :)

If you had to start over in your wedding planning, what one thing would you do differently?

Nothing. Planning is easy when you have a helpful fiance. He has been amazing!! Ladies, get your future groom involved!!! He might have some great ideas that will surprise you! And when you go with one of his ideas, this lets him know that the wedding isn't just about the bride, its about the two of you.

During the ceremony, who will be the first to cry?

My mom! She is really good when it comes to water works!

What are your three favorite blogs/websites (besides STC's)?

Etsy, The Knot, and Brides.com. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Etsy, I can spend hours on that site!!!

Why did you hire a wedding coordinator? OR When selecting someone to entrust with your wedding day, why did you choose STC?

We hired a coordinator so we wouldn't have to worry about the little details on the day of. On the day of my wedding I want to enjoy myself! We chose STC because Resha has a good understanding of what we want!. I trust that she will not only make our ideas work, but that she will take them to another level!

Special note from the bride regarding the super cute save-the-date above: To save on money, we bought a tripod (since we have a nice camera) and roamed the city looking for a perfect spot to take photos. He did the adjusting and running back and forth to set the timer over and over again, and I did the graphic design for the Save the Dates! Talk about team work!! ;) We had sooooo much fun with the process and the end product came out great!!!

Thanks guys! I can't wait for your big day!

Much love, Resha

Real Couples: Stacy + Danny

Meet Stacy and Danny! From the moment I spoke with Stacy over the phone, we just "clicked." And after meeting her, Danny, and her mother in person - I knew I wanted to be a part of their wedding day. Stacy and Danny are like two peas in a pod. They are the type of couple that you can tell just "meshes" well. I am honored they choose me to help pull all of the final details together. Read more about them below!

Name:

Stacy Cooper and Danny (Quang) Vu

Wedding Website:

Where’s Home?

Clear Lake (Houston, TX)

Why a Houston Wedding?

We never even considered anywhere else. We both grew up in Houston and met at High School here.

Length of engagement?

We got engaged on March 22, 2009 and will be engaged a little over a year and a half by the time we are married.

How long until the wedding?

Four months. I am only slightly freaking out trying to get the details together!

Who did you first tell you were engaged?

My parents and sister! He asked me on the patio at my house, so my parents were inside watching it all unfold. I called my grandparents next, but they already knew, just like everyone else! Then we told all of his family that afternoon at a party that he had planned to celebrate.

If you had to start over in your wedding planning, what one thing would you do differently?

If I started over, I would keep in mind that our wedding is about us and what we want. It was important for Danny and I to sit down together and make sure that we were on the same page This way we could filter through everyone else’s suggestions and I wish that we did it more often. It gets a little overwhelming having so many suggestions and even more so when people aren’t supportive about aspects that you dreamed of and love. There is no need to take rude comments, especially from a jealous bridesmaid. I wish that I would have confronted her earlier on so she didn’t take away some of the fun and excitement.

During the ceremony, who will be the first to cry?

Between Danny and me, it will definitely be me! However, I am not sure if my mom, sister, or I will be first to shed a tear. My mom is convinced that my father will cry first.

What are your three favorite blogs/websites (besides STC’s)?

The only other blog that I keep up with is The Gallery’s (http://thegalleryhouston.blogspot.com/) because I like to see what other brides have done with the venue!

Why did you hire a wedding coordinator? OR When selecting someone to entrust with your wedding day, why did you chose STC?

I knew that I had plenty of time to plan most of the details of the wedding and that was very important to me, but I didn’t want to be stressed out the weekend of the wedding. Having a weekend coordinator was a no-brainer. I chose STC because they were recommended to me by a coordinator at our venue. I spoke with Resha on the phone one evening and heard her kids in the background. I loved that she was home with her family. Family is so important to me and I felt that she would treat us like family and make our wedding important to her as well. She is great and I’m excited to work with her further as we get closer.

Guys - can't wait for your big day!

xoxo - Resha :-)

Real Couples: Sarah + Jonathan

I've been working with Sarah and Jonathan since September 2009 and they're a hoot. They met while attending Rice (which happens to be my mom's alma mater as well) in a singing group - so fun! I haven't heard them sing but Sarah swears that Jonathan's the one with talent. A former choir geek myself, I guess it's no surprise that we've been known to pepper

Glee

references throughout some of our conversations.

Working with these two has been a blast and I'm so excited their day is almost here! Be sure to check back for wedding day pictures from their fabulous photographer - I'll post them as soon as he sends them my way.

Here's Sarah!

Wedding Website

We have a totally awesome website, but it's private to our guests.

You'll have to trust us on that.

Wedding Planning Blog

It was a dream of mine to have a wedding blog, but I figured that if I

didn't have time to fully plan the wedding myself, I probably didn't

have time to write a wedding planning blog myself.

Where's Home?

Sarah - Bartlesville, Oklahoma

Jonathan - New Orleans, Louisiana

Why an Austin Wedding?

Short Answer:

We live here.

Long Answer:

I've been dreaming about planning my own wedding for a

loooong time, so I knew I wanted to be pretty involved in the process.

I didn't think I could participate as much if the wedding wasn't

close to where I live.

Length of engagement?

10 months, though I've been nagging Jonathan about getting married for

somewhere between 3 and 8 years.

How long until the wedding?

Exactly one month!

Who did you first tell you were engaged?

The official answer:

Our parents

The unofficial answer:

Jonathan's brother, who had been hiding down

the hall. He had helped Jonathan set up the house for the proposal,

but I got home before he could escape.

If you had to start over in your wedding planning, what one

thing

would you do differently?

I don't know...we haven't made many egregious errors yet. I guess I'd

have made a sample invitation first before constructing fifty with

faulty adhesives.

***Jessica's note: Sarah has an awesome SAT-worthy vocabulary. I, on

the other hand, had to look-up 'egregious' and for anyone else wondering,

here's what my good friend

Webster

says, "

2

:

conspicuous;

especially

:

conspicuously bad

:

flagrant

"***

During the ceremony, who will be the first to cry?

My mom

Why did you hire a wedding coordinator?

I was working in an elementary school, and as such it was very

difficult to make phone calls and organize meetings during business

hours. If nothing else, I needed someone to do all the vendor

scheduling for me, so that's why we initially sought a coordinator.

Since then, we've found it very useful to have Jessica guide us to

good prices and reliable vendors, and I'm so glad that someone besides

me will be keeping our wedding day on schedule. Annnnnd, even having

watched endless wedding shows over the past several years, I still

didn't know how much I didn't know about weddings. Having an expert

on hand at all times has been invaluable.
