Linda + Anson's Houston Museum of Natural Science Wedding

One of the greatest benefits of planning weddings in Houston and beyond is the wonderful variety of venues available to our couples for their celebrations. And, today’s location could not have been more fun or fitting for our couple.

We’re off to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to share more about Linda and Anson’s wedding day!

When Linda and Anson decided to host their December wedding day at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, they knew they wanted to embrace the holiday season and the museum’s exhibits. So, they planned all of their additional décor and styling elements around what was available in their space. That’s one of the best ways to develop your wedding style – allow what is present in your space to inspire the rest!

After getting ready and sharing their first look together, Linda walked down the aisle with her mom. We loved seeing the museum’s Christmas trees tucked along the walls on either side of the ceremony space. They added a wonderful nod to the holiday season without turning their celebration into one with full Christmas styling. Linda and Anson recited their vows in front of their guests before recessing back down the aisle to join the fun that would ensue during their cocktail hour and reception.

The cocktail and reception spaces could not have been more unique for Linda and Anson! Dinosaur fossils overlooked the party and added an undeniable amount of unique fun and energy. Lounge seating was placed throughout the cocktail space to add modern style, and the same aesthetic continued in the reception where tables were topped with low centerpieces and tall candelabras by Secret Floral Garden.

Outside of embracing their venue’s details, Linda and Anson also wanted to offer their guests plenty of entertainment.

Their band, Sick Duck/Party On, kept guests dancing, and their DJ, Roger, kicked the celebration up a notch. We loved seeing Anson drumming too! L+A also had a popup magician, thanks to Dylan Bryson, and plenty of delicious desserts by Who Made the Cake.

As you can see from their photos by Laning Photography, Linda and Anson’s wedding day was filled with the best energy, and we’re so thrilled to share some of their best moments with you!

Wedding at Ma Maison - Austin Wedding Planner_0550.jpg

Carly and Colt’s wedding was hosted on a crisp February day at Ma Maison. These two were a breeze to work with- the day was dedicated to their love and focused on a laid-back yet, elegant celebration.

Austin Wedding Venue

The couple held their ceremony outside at The Grove. This is one of the shining stars of the venue- it has a built-in stone around and a gorgeous surrounding landscape of trees. The arch was decorated with a lush floral arrangement and the aisle was lined with burgundy rose petals. Wild Bunches accented the ceremony chairs with clusters of greenery (a variety of eucalyptus and a touch of hearty ruscus).

After a few photos (aren’t their pups adorable?!), it was time for their reception in The Great Hall. Almost 150 friends and family members joined the Newlyweds for a delicious buffet dinner and dancing.

Wedding Colors

The couple selected a beautiful mix of burgundy, ivory and peach, with plenty of greenery accents. Carly’s bouquet was absolutely gorgeous -the cascading burgundy amaranth added so much movement & dimension. It paired beautifully with the soft flowiness (we know this isn’t a real word, but it should be!) of her dress. We also loved the mixed styled bridesmaids’ dresses.

Jordan + Nick's Hotel Ella Wedding | Austin Wedding Coordinator

Hotel Ella Wedding- Austin Wedding + Event Planner_0144.jpg

Jordan and Nick’s Hotel Ella wedding was the sweetest southern celebration with countless timeless touches. These two have such warm, loving personalities and working with them was a breeze! Not only did they choose one of our favorite venues for their ceremony + reception, but they worked with some of our favorite vendors too (Spacecraft Entertainment always knows how to keep the party moving)!

The timeless wedding got a modern POP of color from the prettiest purple shade - it was incorporated in the bridesmaid’s dresses and men’s ties. Otherwise, they kept is classic with lots of white, touches of grey, gold and greenery. Jordan’s monochromatic white bouquet included lush peonies and huge ranunculus- a combination that we obsess over every time. Truly gorgeous!

Some of our favorite details- the scarves on every other ceremony chair (although it doesn’t look like it, it was a CHILLY day), the monogram detail on the bridesmaid’s prep PJs and the miniature pies at each place setting for the favors.

Be sure to watch Jordan + Nick’s awesome video by Ladybird! We highly recommend getting a videographer for the big day- it’s always so much fun to see the wedding played back. It goes so darn fast!

Weddings to Celebrate: Lindsey & Randy

Lindsey and Randy's wedding was one for the books!  After a long and sweet courtship, they had a short three month engagement.  They came to me for help just two months out, and I was thrilled to assist.  However, the length of their engagement isn't what made their wedding so unique.  It was the number of receptions.  They were married in an intimate ceremony in Park City, Utah.  They had a small reception in Park City, and then two days later...we had reception #2 in Houston for their Texas friends and family.  But wait, there's more! (ha) The week after the Texas reception, they had  reception #3 in Los Angeles for their California friends and family.  What a whirlwind!

They hired three planners (one in each city), and Lindsey gave me one of the best compliments of my career.  She said I was the best of the three, and she wished I had planned all of the events.  I can not properly express how much her words meant to me.

Lindsey and Randy possess two of my favorite qualities:  They are both humble and kind.  They have great spirits, they are a join to be around, and I am forever grateful to have worked with them.

Here are some of the gorgeous shots Chip Gillespie captured for their Texas Reception.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Weddings to Celebrate: Kelly & Zach | Houston Wedding Planner

I love December weddings.  There is just something about the holidays that make the wedding even more magical.  A stunning clear tent, crystal chandeliers, and a beautiful color palette made the overall effect just perfect.  Add to that an exceptional family, and a girl couldn't ask for any more.  It's only been weeks, and I already miss this family to pieces!

Feast your eyes on some of the sensational images captured by Something Gold Photography.  Aren't they lovely?

Happy Planning,

I love the look on Kelly's face when she looks at Zach.  She had this look all day. :)

Nothing like a little mistletoe for those Christmas-time weddings.

I always avoid the camera, but when I am caught in a shot, it's usually pretty funny.

These expressions are priceless.

Nothing says winter wedding reception like a hot chocolate bar.

Love this shot of mother and daughter at the end of the exit. :)

A few weeks ago, I posted some teaser pictures from Erin & Steven's January wedding (click here to see those).  Now I get to share more from their beautiful wedding day.  This was such a fun wedding to plan!  I hope you enjoy viewing the pictures as much as I enjoyed helping them with the planning.  :)  Special thanks to Akil Bennett for capturing their day in a gorgeous way.

Relaxing before "show time"

The first look.  Just the bride, groom, photographer and videographer.  :)

I can't decide which I liked more:  the dress or the veil.

Quite possibly my favorite tablescape, ever.

When Tony's Resturant staff mentioned they had wine crates, I had to throw them into the mix.  Love this dessert table.

The guests were surprised with a same-day edit of the wedding ceremony (which ones a small ceremony for just family).  We showed it just before toasts.  So fun!!

Weddings to Celebrate: Ashley & Bonner at Briscoe Manor

Ashley & Bonner were married on Valentine's weekend at Briscoe Manor in Richmond, Texas.  Yes, they are both incredibly easy on the eyes.  But more importantly, they are beautiful on the inside.  Inner beauty is an amazing thing.  It not only makes the person glow, but it makes the people around them "glow" as well.  Just thinking about their wedding day makes me smile.  Here is a sneak peak of the pictures the very talented Alison Carlino captured.  I can't wait to show you more!

Weddings to Celebrate: Erin & Steven (the video)

I am so excited to share this wonderful highlight video with you.  This was a same-day edit for my January 4th client, created my the fabulous team at Mason Jar Films.  Erin & Steven choose to have an intimate ceremony with just family, and a large reception after.  They surprised their guests by airing the video just before the toasts began.  I think my favorite part of their evening was watching everyone watch this.  I hope you enjoy it as they seemed to :)

Weddings to Celebrate: Erin & Steven, Tony's Restaurant | Houston Wedding Planners

I am so excited to share this sneak peak of the decor for Erin & Steven's wedding last weekend.  The design was a collaborative effort between me (Resha, Something to Celebrate), the talented Scott Konitzer & Lisa Tran (The Blooming Gallery), and the clients (Erin & her mom, Mindy).  I don't think it could have been more lovely.  But perhaps I'm a bit biased?  ;) David Tran captured these beautiful pictures.  Stay tuned for more pictures from their wedding photographer, Akil Bennett :)

Enjoy!

Something to Buzz About: Snippet + Ink features Carrie and James' Wedding | Houston Wedding Planner

One of my clients was featured in Snippet + Ink today.  Words can not properly convey how much I adore this couple.  Love them.  Love Snippet + Ink.  And love the post.

Click here to read it.  :)  (Oh, and the "be in the moment" advice she mentioned:  that was from me.  I love that she remembered me telling her that.)

Weddings to Celebrate: Carrie & James' Hotel ZaZa Wedding | Houston Wedding Planners

Carrie's BFF gave a toast during which she said, "On a day that is supposed to be all about Carrie, she made it all about us."  That sums Carrie & James' wedding up perfectly.  It was extraordinary. (If you know Carrie & James, you know that's par for the course.  Nothing about them is common or ordinary.)  Here is some eye candy from Akil Bennett Photography (he is fabbo!).

xoxo

You only have to read the invitation to see these two are out-of-the-box thinkers. :-)

Carrie wanted a bouquet that was just "thrown together."

Carrie and her adorable mother.  I puffy heart both of these women.

Yep...those are exposed wires and flowers just "thrown" around.  And yep...it was on purpose.  :-)

Along with a jazz trio for the ceremony, they had a poet read a custom poem for them right before Carrie walked down the aisle.

The food at this wedding was outrageous.  No one went away hungry.  But, just in case they *might* have .. there were late night snacks and full to-go boxes :-)

Weddings to Celebrate: M'Lynn & Matt, The Allan House | Austin Wedding Planner

M'Lynn and Matt are one of those couples who radiate love for each other. It makes my job so fun! M'Lynn and I worked on the design together and we had so much fun creating a wintery, sparkly, gorgeous evening where their friends and family could enjoy good food, good drinks and good company. I think we did a fabulous job:).

M'Lynn paid attention to the details (you know I love that!)--for her something borrowed, she used a swatch of a blue and white striped shirt of her grandfather's, who had recently passed away, and for her something borrowed (and old) she wore an absolutely stunning Art Deco ring from Matt's mother's family. I love it when there are personal details that make the bride feel extra loved and special!

M'Lynn and Matt, I'm so glad I got to work with you, and I wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
