Audra + Stephen's Ma Maison Wedding | Austin Wedding Designer & Full Service Planner→

Audra and Stephen’s wedding weekend was a bit of a different one for us for two reasons. The first being that is was a second marriage for them both, showing us that you can find love after loss and heartbreak. But the second reason was because our “planner” was the groom! Stephen was so great to work with, he had the perfect balance of knowing what he wanted and also trusting us to know what was right. He was also just a funny and down to earth guy, having left a life in the high stress corporate financial world to become a math tutor, in order to enjoy himself and have time for family and friends.

Family and friends were the theme of the weekend. They both had family all over the country and with COVID many of them had never been able to meet each other in person, so the wedding weekend was going to be very special. Stephen wanted a laid back and comfortable event (two words that 100% described this happy couple) but also wanted a beautiful wedding for his bride to be, and one that would make his guests feel special, especially since they were all flying in from out of state.

We helped plan all elements of the weekend, from the hotel room block, to the rehearsal dinner, to sending out invites and getting the RSVPs, to the wedding, Stephen never had to worry. As guests arrived in Austin on Thursday and Friday, they all stayed at The LINE to experience a bit of Austin downtown life, before heading into the beautiful Texas Hill Country for the rehearsal dinner.

Every guest was invited to the rehearsal at The Texas Hill Country Olive Co for a delicious buffet from local favorite The Salt Lick. Stephen had very few requirements for the weekend, but one was that the rehearsal had to be authentic Austin BBQ, so The Salt Lick was the perfect fit. The private room with its two long wooden tables doesnt need much decor (very much like Stephen being a man of little words) so Stems Floral brought in some bud vases with lavender, olive branches, and assorted white florals to run down the center of the table, and it was just what he didn’t even know he wanted!

After a wonderful evening spent with newly introduced family and friends, it was time for the wedding at one of our favorite venues, Ma Maison. This was the only vendor that Stephen and Audra selected without our help, and it was no easy task. Audra wanted water at her wedding, she wasn’t too specific as to what form, it could be on a lake, on the gulf, have a beautiful water feature, just as long as it had water. With that being her only request, Stephen made sure she was going to get that. They looked at over 100 venues before finding Ma Maison, where they found the beautiful water that Audra wanted along with the comfortable yet elegant atmosphere they wanted for their guests.

Both Audra and Stephen had been married before, and both marriages ended differently. Stephen’s was ended mutually, but Audra’s was ended not too long ago when her husband of many years passed away. Audra is one of eight children, and while her first wedding was beautiful and happy, she never really got the wedding she maybe had always dreamt about as a little girl. With them both being so lucky to find love again, but especially Stephen just so incredibly happy to have found Audra, he wanted to give her whatever she wanted.

Ma Maison happen to have a date open just two months away, so we got a call along with four pictures; her ivory lace dress, the rust bridesmaids dresses (picked out by the bride’s daughter), and two bouquet ideas, and got right to work! Stems Floral took our design board of warm fall tones and added their own little twists, which including custom dying florals to match the colors Audra wanted. We wanted warm, comforting colors and florals that looked elegant but also liked you picked some from the side of the road. And greenery, lots and lots of greenery. The end result was breathtaking. The names of the florals alone just make you feel warm and fuzzy; peachy juliet garden roses, golden caramel antique garden roses, dusty blush quicksand roses, peach ranunculus, terracotta sweet peas, burgundy dahlias, chocolate queen anne’s lace, dark pink astrantia, ivory astilbe. It just screams fall!!

Audra is a beautician by trade, so the bridal suite was packed all morning with all her friends and co-workers making everyone beautiful for pre-ceremony photos. The wedding party was made up entirely of family, with the maid of honor being Audra’s daughter, and other bridesmaids included one of Audra’s sisters, Audra’s daughter in law, and Stephen’s two daughters. The groomsmen were lead by Stephen’s brother as best man, Audra’s son, Audra’s brother-in-law, and Stephen’s two son-in-laws.

We carried the warm fall tones onto the Trellis for cocktail and inside the Great Hall for dinner. We drew inspiration from velvet and greenery, but added in lots of metals, textures, and pops of color to make it unique. We mixed ivory florals with touches of burgundy, orange, and blush, with dark and light wood, lots of candles, copper, gold, bronze, mirrors, crystal, ivory ceramic, black textured ceramic, leather, with oatmeal, orange, rust, gray, and hunter green velvet; it truly represented the unique tastes of Audra and Stephen, and made for a comfortably beautiful party as well!

They chose to get married at The Grove, one of the four ceremony locations at Ma Maison, because they loved all the natural greenery found there. Audra made the touching decision to have her late husband’s mother walk her down the aisle as the music of Terra Vista Strings filled the air. And while all eyes should be on the bride, it was hard to not pay attention to Stephen’s many reactions to seeing his bride walking towards him. Al Gawlik captured his many expressions, and they are some of my favorite photos of the entire wedding. As the ceremony ended, nothing could stop these two from smiling, they were on top of the moon with joy!

After the ceremony as guests enjoyed delicious appetizers from Crave Catering, including the groom’s favorite mini chicken and waffles, Audra and Stephen took so many beautiful photos where you could really see their love for each other shine. Since the fountain was such a big reason they chose Ma Maison, we had to make sure to capture it for their forever memories.

The rest of the night was spent visiting with all their newly joined family and friends in the Great Hall. Josh Giles of Exodus Sound Co played keyboard and crooned the guests as they enjoyed a plated dinner of grilled flank steak, pecan crusted chicken, or stuffed acorn squash. They wanted a laid back reception where people could enjoy themselves but also still hold a conversation, so we utilized the trellis with additional lounge sets and kept the music on the quieter side. A lot of the traditional wedding events were skipped, like parent dances and bouquet toss, but there was no way Stephen was going to skip the wedding cake. Their three flavors of cake from Simon Lee Bakery (orange with strawberries, pina colada, and white with lemon) was served with Bluebell’s homemade vanilla ice cream so everyone could experience that Texas treasure.

After a quick dress change, Audra and Stephen finally got to use the photo booth from Oh Happy Day with their custom backdrop, before heading out for some late night photos at the Green Cathedral (often called the birdcage). It was the perfect ending to their perfect day.

It was a pleasure being part of this new start, cheers to many more years Mr & Mrs Turner!!

Dogs in Wedding - Why and How to Include Them In Your Special Day

We are pet people at Something to Celebrate. While we love ALL weddings, we won’t lie, a wedding with a dog is just something special! You might be wondering why & how should you incorporate your fur baby into your wedding, especially if you can’t have them there in person. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS

This is the easiest way to incorporate your pets because you can take them near your house and they require the shortest time commitment. Use these photos on your save the dates, or print off and frame as many as you want and display them at your ceremony and reception for everyone to enjoy!

YOUR ATTIRE

This one is for the guys! Have some fun but keep it classy with socks (either just with your dog breed, or even custom ones with your exact pet) and cuff links like Mike. If your wedding is a bit more on the casual side, go crazy with your tie! In this day and age of so many custom clothing options, you can almost do anything, just make sure it fits the formality level of your celebration.

SIGNS, STICKERS, AND MORE!

There are so many options when it comes to signage and paper products, so use your imagination and have fun! We have seen lots of creative ideas in the past, and while we would love to share them all, it would take awhile, so below are just a few recent ones.

  • Custom stamps, SO SO cute! If you have stamps, that means you can always include your pets on your invites as well.

  • Make COVID precautions a bit more fun with custom stickers to indicate how comfortable your guests are with social distancing. Hopefully this particular use will be gone soon, but stickers are here to stay!

  • Were you planning on doing assigned tables for your guests? If so, it will be one sign that you know everyone will be looking at, so of course you need your furry friends to be front and center on that sign!

  • This is a big day, it’s the official start of a new family, so why not document it with an adorable sign with ALL your family members. You could easily make a sign that you also use as a guest book and have your friends and family sign. Or you could be like Kady & Nathan and just show off your newest piece of artwork for everyone to enjoy!

  • Turn their adorable faces into photo booth props, and then they really be part of the celebration!!

YOUR BAR (AND BONUS FAVORS)!!

There are so many fun ways to include your pets into your bar and that is probably why we see this the most! Even if you are having a formal wedding, the bar is always a fun place, so you can use this area to bring in a little bit of whimsy into the evening.

  • Have cups made with an illustrated version of your four legged friend and your new married name on the back. Keep them at the bar so they can used during the wedding, but order extra because guests will want to take one (or more) home as a favor!

  • Sure, you could make a signature drink named after you or your fiance, but naming it after your pet is way more fun! It could be as simple as giving a traditional drink a new name for the night (like Kasey & Ed did with their margarita “The Willie” and old fashioned “The Carter”). Or turn your pet’s name into the drink, like Tina and Henry did with their “Zoey-Rita”!

  • If thinking of drink names is too much, or you aren’t doing a signature cocktail, we’ve still got you covered! You can name your bars! Haley & Tyler named their three bars after their three dogs, Cash, Credit, and Debit (Tyler is an accountant if you are curious).

  • If you are going to take the time to name your drinks after you dogs (or cats, anyone, maybe, one day..), you better have a sign made!! It can be a be on acrylic or printed and in a frame. The picture can look like a computer graphic, can be hand painted, can be a custom watercolor, again, the possibilities are endless.

  • Last but not least, what is a bar without koozies and beverage napkins! Skip the monogram and opt for furry face instead!

CAKE

Before you start to doubt us, yes,, you can include your dogs on the wedding cake and not just the groom’s cake! Traditionally the groom’s cake is the more “fun” one, but you can fit your furry friends into anything you want. Actually incorporate them into the cake, like Haley & Tyler’s cake eating trio), or make them a topper (in plastic, metal, or icing form). If you still want just a traditional wedding cake with a hint of your loyal companion, grab an extra beverage napkin and display it on the cake table for a beautiful (and still elegant) photo!

INCLUDE THEM IN YOUR CEREMONY

Don’t know anyone to be a ring bearer or flower girl? No worries, your pet is up to the task! But the task they are ready for is looking adorable in photos and making your guests smile. Having proper wedding etiquette is not. They might stop to literally smell (or eat) the roses, chase a squirrel, or decide to jump on that beautiful new white gown they have never seen their mom in. So whenever you have your beloved animal at your wedding, they need their very own companion. Companies like The Pet Gal can even board them when you are gone during wedding weekend and your honeymoon. On wedding day they will bring them to your ceremony just in time for photos, stay with them during the ceremony (because as much as we love them, they don’t love us enough to sit through a 20 minute ceremony), help with with post-ceremony pictures, and then take them back home. Weddings are loud and full of strangers, and that can stress your dog. So let them stay just to spend time with the two people they love most in the world, and then let them go back home for a nap!

PHOTO TIME!!

How many days of your life are spent with a professional photographer following you like a shadow? Probably not many, so take advantage!! You are both dressed to the nines, so get your furry friend the cutest bow tie, or a flower collar, and you will treasure these pictures FOREVER!!

KISSES

Last but not least, include them for the kisses. Yours or theirs, they don’t care. They just love kisses!!

Kasey + Ed's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Coordinator

Kasey and Ed will always hold a special place in the heart of our planner Melanie, as their time with Something to Celebrate was short but so very sweet. They didn’t join us like most of our couples, many months before their big day. They found us during the worst week of 2020, the one where COVID shut everything down. Their wedding was scheduled to happen in just 7 weeks and they were working with another full service planning company. However, when all of these additional stresses were put on their plate, they realized they were no longer happy with their current planning situation and quickly found us and the rest is history!

We quickly got to know each other via email (no in person, this was the height of the shut down) and found a new date 3 months away, so their original date of April 25th became July 25th. That should be plenty of time to just move a wedding, but it became clear that lots of details had been missed and the design was not 100% was Kasey really wanted. With an amazing floral plan from Flora Fetish, we went back and started from the beginning. Keep in mind we moved from a beautiful spring April day, to the heat of the Texas summer, with an outdoor ceremony planned, so some big changes. But luck was on our side once again, and Kasey was the very first bride to use the not 100% finished Ma Maison chapel. All her vendors knew the stress she had been under (we felt it too) and since she and Ed are just about the nicest people ever, we all became fast friends. There were many happy moments & tears shed between Kasey and her vendor team on wedding day.

With the date reschedule, Kasey and Ed took it in stride and decided to have a bit of fun with it. They sent out new invites with "let’s try this again…”, kept some of their personalized items with the original date, or just crossed it out and put the new date (like in Ed’s custom suit), and fully embraced the new normal of masks with beautiful Mr & Mrs masks and custom disposable masks for all their guests.

After three quick months, and lots of guest count changes (so many that each text to Melanie would be accompanied by a GIF or meme of “another bites the dust”) it was FINALLY wedding weekend! With many friends and family coming in from out of state, they gathered at Omni Austin Hotel at Southpark for a quick rehearsal and had a delicious dinner at La Condesa.

Wedding day started early for the ladies, heading into Dripping Springs for hair and makeup at Ma Maison. Their bridal suite was the perfect size for Kasey and her ladies to spend the day together getting beautiful and spoiling the bride. But don’t think we forgot about Ed and his guys either, not at all! They have their own grooms den, with corn hole, roping steers, horseshoe, bocce ball, and space to just sit and watch some tv and enjoy the AC on a hot summer day.

Once Kasey got into her beyond gorgeous Miss Hayley Paige dress, the emotions started to run high. She had a replica of a note written by her late father sewn into her dress, and his presence was felt during the fist look with her mother and the toast given by her sister later in the evening. It was a touching moment, and it’s those moments that make us love what we do even more.

Happier moments were up next, with the first look at Ma Maison’s iconic Green Cathedral for Kasey & Ed, followed by family and wedding party portraits. Typically this time is all about the couple, but their ring bearer and flower girl were totally stealing the show! These two had never met each other, but became the best of friends, and we expect an email in 20 years to be planning their wedding!!

It was finally time to walk down the aisle, and the brand new chapel looked beautiful! Flora Fetish’s design of gold, greenery and blush tones paired perfectly with the chapel, and the draping from Unique Design and Events provided a touch of softness for a romantic vibe. In true form, their ceremony was full of love and laughter, and was everything they had been waiting for.

With most of their pictures done, they had time to enjoy their cocktail hour with their guests and wedding party. Thank goodness because who wouldn’t want to spend time with the beer burros and enjoy the delicious hors d’oeuvres from Crave Catering (ceviche cups, chicken & waffles, and mini lamb chops, yes please)!! As the guest entered the Great Hall to find their seats for dinner and dancing, the happy couple took a few golden hour photos before the true party began!!

Can we take a moment to just ooh and aah at the decor for a second. This wedding was truly a team effort between Kasey and her decor team composed of Something to Celebrate, Flora Fetish, and Marquee Event Rentals, and it turned out amazing. There were so many different elements, with almost each table being unique, but together it was perfection. Gold, greenery, blush, and geometric shapes were the original inspiration and you can see how it all came together, with the star piece being the overhead greenery on the head table!!

Guests had beautiful textured napkins from BBJ Linen with a square dinner plate & triangular salad plate from Marquee. While the head table had a gold and glass starburst charger, a delicate gold scalloped dinner plate, a classic white satin napkin, and then the cutest gold “dottie” plate from Marquee that you have ever seen! Pair those place settings with the mix of peach cafe dahlias, so many roses (early grey, garden rose koko, lavender, celestial spray rose, vendela, and quicksand), roma pink astrantia, purple acacia, blushing protea, eight types of greenery, and my personal favorite, grass bunny tails, and you were transported to a modern garden.

Now was time to enjoy all the work of the past year and celebrate!! They made their grand entrance down the stairs and as their closest family and friends cheered on and then watched their first dance as husband and wife. Guests then enjoyed a plated meal of a seasonal strawberry salad and a duo entree of seared salmon and beef medallions from Crave Catering as they listened to heartfelt toasts from the best man, matron of honor (and sister of the bride), mother of the bride, and the bride & groom themselves!

You can’t have a wedding without wedding cake, and with two cakes from Simon Lee Bakery, we had that covered. The wedding cake looked so modern and elegant with its swirl design on the acrylic stand and on the BBJ linen that matched the napkins. Ed’s UT Tower cake was the perfect groom’s cake for this UT couple and is always a crowd pleaser, especially since it was their chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling!!

After all the formal events were over, it was time to kick back and enjoy the music of the Royal Duke’s band. The dance floor was full the rest of the night with smiles and foam glow sticks! As the sun set the covered trellis became a popular hang out as well, especially with Ed’s whiskey bar and the fire pit.

Sadly the night had to come to end, Crave Catering provided to-go breakfast tacos for the bus ride back to Austin, as the guests lined up to send the couple off under a canopy of sparklers. We had one last surprise for the new Mr & Mrs before they rode off in style in a black 1937 Cadillac; a private last dance, what a way to end the night!

Congrats Kasey & Ed, it was truly an honor and pleasure getting to know you and being part of your celebration!! Happy ALMOST 1 year anniversary and we can’t wait to meet Baby Girl Powers so very soon!!

Katrina + Robert's Ma Maison Wedding | Austin Wedding Coordinator

Because couples can get ready onsite, there are beautiful locations for outdoor ceremonies, and the ballroom offers plenty of opportunities to transform the room, we’re always eager to return to Ma Maison for wedding days in Dripping Springs! Katrina and Robert’s celebration was one we couldn’t wait for them to experience.

Katrina +Robert spent the morning of their wedding day getting ready in the suites at the venue. Just before their outdoor wedding ceremony, Katrina and her dad shared a sweet first look. Not too long after, guests began to gather outside to witness the moment when Katrina and Robert recited their vows. Not to mention, everyone also got to see Katrina+Robert’s adorable pup walk down the aisle!

Once they were officially married, Katrina and Robert explored the Ma Maison grounds with their photographer, Mike Reed Photo, to capture portraits together and with their wedding party and families. From beautiful structures to gorgeous grounds, there are so many locations to capture photos – something else we adore about Ma Maison. And, we also have to note how thrilled we were that Katrina and Robert were welcomed into life as a married couple with wonderful weather!

After photos and a cocktail or two, guests were welcomed into Ma Maison’s ballroom. The space was decked out in a palette of coral, blush, gold, and ivory. The bright pops of color looked perfect against the darker wood tones in the space. Plus, we always welcome florals in the same shades. Just’in Roses did an excellent job creating low and tall centerpieces that truly made the ballroom come alive!

Guests dined on a menu prepared by Crave Catering, and they also enjoyed cake by Iced Cakes. Our eyes immediately wandered to Katrina and Robert’s tiered floral cake, but we would be remiss if we didn’t mention how fun Robert’s groom’s cake was. He loves to play PlayStation, so a controller was the perfect fit for his cake! Before the night came to a close, Katrina and Robert shared dances together, with their families, and with their guests.

We are so thrilled you were able to celebrate your wedding day, Katrina and Robert!

Ma Maison Open House

We have to admit, we’re already starting to countdown until our next visit whenever we depart from Ma Maison. This Austin area wedding venue is located in the heart of hill country, and we think their indoor and outdoor wedding spaces are some of the most beautiful in Texas. And, our couples agree! So, when the Ma Maison team invited us to style an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception with a wonderful team of wedding professionals for their January open house, we jumped at the chance!

Karen, Ma Maison’s owner, dreaming up the details for each unique space, and she asked us if we would take on Springtime in Paris for the Green Cathedral. The wrought iron details are similar to what one might see while roaming the streets of Paris. Then we turned to colors and chose to pair soft pastel shades together with brighter pops of pink and red. Of course, black and white stripes and beautiful flowers were a must!

On the day of the open house, we revealed our completed design. Watercolor stationery by Poppies and Ink would invite guests to our soiree. When everyone arrived, we imagined a ceremony taking place in front of the Green Cathedral. To add extra color, fun, and whimsy, we worked with Pop & Drop to create a balloon arch that served as a ceremony backdrop and to install colorful streamers indie the cathedral. Then we added high top tables draped in stripes to our cocktail hour space where we imagined guests sipping drinks. A boxwood escort card display with watercolor cards invited guests to take their seats in the reception.

Because the outdoor setting is so ideal, like an outdoor Parisian café, we imagined the reception occurring under the stars. Uncovered wooden tables served as our base where we layered bright pink rose and peony centerpieces by Exquisite Petals on top. Then we imagined guests enjoying a menu created by SoHo Catering. Lastly, we have to highlight our favorite detail: live fashion painting by Vogue Vignettes! Paris is known for their art and fashion, so incorporating both in the form of a live painter at our wedding felt completely fitting.

Whether it’s inside or outside, Ma Maison’s event spaces all welcome transformation and plenty of additional details. And, they look like a dream in photos, particularly if The Mill is behind the lens. Will we be planning your Parisian inspired wedding at Ma Maison next?

Jennifer + Michael's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Coordinator

As the seasons changed throughout the year in 2020, countless couples were making difficult decisions about their wedding days. As the fall approached, Jennifer and Michael knew what they wanted to do – they wanted to celebrate at Ma Maison. And, celebrate they did!

Jennifer + Michael pared back their original guest list, asked everyone to add a mask to their look, created pod seating for their ceremony space, kept guests distanced while dining during the reception, and hosted as much outside as possible. The health of their guests and their team of wedding professionals was at the forefront of their day, and everyone could not have been more grateful for each and every measure they took to keep their crew safe!

Jennifer and Michael’s wedding day began during their getting ready sessions with their respective wedding party and family members. Before they saw each other for the first time, Jennifer incorporated a sweet first look tradition but it had a twist! Rather than doing a first look solely with her dad, she renamed it a “family first look” and asked her brother and mom to join in as well. The photos of Jennifer and her whole family captured by Josh and Dana Fernandez during this moment are so sweet! Then Jennifer and Michael saw each other for the first time in the beautiful lawns of Ma Maison.

As we mentioned, pod seating was incorporated into Jennifer + Michael’s ceremony, which occurred outside at The Grove. The natural light was beautiful during this point of their day, and the sun streamed into portraits captured throughout their vow exchange perfectly. Wild Bunches also added an arch of blooms above to create an even more gorgeous setting.

Once they were officially married, Jennifer and Michael were joined by their families and wedding party to capture photos throughout Ma Maison’s property grounds. The only way to describe these portraits is to say they are stunning! The trees and water backdrops were showing off for these two, and they deserved every moment.

At the reception, guests were greeted by a collection of long and round tables, both inside the Great Hall and under the Trellis. The tables featured a mixture of candles and greenery, floral centerpieces, or tall floral arrangements with loose greenery garlands. Plus, Wild Bunches also added greenery along the staircase and banister above. Not only was the reception space revealed, but Jennifer also revealed her reception dress after she and Michael shared their first dance. Her beaded gown was perfect for dancing and fun!

Guests dined on a menu created by Crave Catering, and they safely joined together on the dance floor for plenty of songs played by Infinity Sounds Lab. Before the end of the night, Jennifer and Michael cut their cake by Classy Cakes by Lori and wove through their guests once more during their sparkler exit.

Jennifer + Michael, we are so happy you asked us to coordinate your wedding day, and we could not be more thrilled that you’re officially married!

Jacob + Kendrah's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Designer & Full Service Planner

We plan, design, and coordinate for our couples and their guests at a variety of wedding venues throughout Texas, and we’re always thrilled when we get to return to Ma Maison. Located in  Dripping Springs, outside of Austin, Ma Maison offers indoor and outdoor spaces where couples can celebrate their wedding ceremonies and receptions, and each of the spaces are uniquely stunning in their own ways. Kendrah and Jacob hosted both their ceremony and reception at Ma Maison during the height of the summer (they originally planned to host earlier in the year, but had to postpone due to COVID), and we are so thrilled to be able to relive their 2020 wedding with you today.

Despite the planning hiccups due to the Pandemic, we first have to say that Kendrah and Jacob are seriously two of the happiest and most in love couples we have ever seen! They were just so hopeful and happy to be getting married!

Kendrah and her family and bridesmaids arrived at Ma Maison during the morning of her wedding day to get ready on site. Whenever possible, we always recommend getting ready at your wedding venue, particularly if it has beautiful natural light, because you can enjoy a much more leisurely morning with more time to sip mimosas.

Rather than seeing Jacob during a first look prior to their wedding ceremony, Kendrah shared a  first look with her bridesmaids and her dad. Both moments were sweet for different reasons –  Kendrah’s bridesmaids were so visibly thrilled for her, and Kendrah’s dad was overcome with emotion. We loved both!

K+J recited their vows underneath the Texas sun outside in the garden (under the grove) at Ma  Maison. Exquisite Petals adorned their outdoor altar with bright blooms that matched their color palette of cornflower blue, bright pink, peach, and ivory. After they were officially married,  one of Kendrah and Jacob’s first fun to-dos was to ring the bell! After, they captured photographs with Melissa Glynn Photography and their families and wedding party throughout Ma Maison’s gorgeous property.

While Kendrah and Jacob were capturing photos, guests retreated into cocktail hour before they were welcomed inside Ma Maison for the reception. To keep the theme of stunning flowers going, Exquisite Petals adorned tables with low and tall centerpieces. We particularly loved  Kendrah and Jacob’s long head table that featured low arrangements of greenery and tall centerpieces of flowers. Above, chandeliers glowed overhead.

After dining on a menu prepared by SoHo Catering, Kendrah and Jacob spent the rest of the night on the dance floor with their guests and their DJ, Full Scope Entertainment. Their first dance was to “When I’m With You” by Ben Rector, “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole played as they cut their cake, and “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley served as the final song of the night as Kendrah and Jacob shared a private final dance.

Before Kendrah and Jacob left their soiree, guests were presented with Honey Butter Chicken  Biscuits from Whataburger as a late-night treat. Then K+J were celebrated one more time with a  sparkler sendoff. It was the perfect way to end a wonderful wedding day!

Sydney + Jake's Ma Maison's Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Designer & Planner

This year, we think the joy of a wedding day feels more poignant than ever before. We love witnessing as our couples celebrate with their family and friends, and we’re forever happy to witness guests leaning into fun on the dance floor. Gatherings may look and perhaps even feel different, but the message behind them is still the same: love is always in style.

Sydney and Jake celebrated their late summer wedding day in September, and we adored working with them as we styled and planned their day. One of the things they wanted to focus on was creating an environment and a series of events that made their guests feel celebrated. So, the day before their wedding, Sydney treated her bridesmaids and close ladies in her family to brunch. We’re certain this time together felt sweet and intentional! Then, Sydney, Jake, and their families and wedding party gathered together for their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

The next day, the future Mr. and Mrs. spent their mornings getting ready with their respective wedding party and family members. Rather than doing a traditional first look with her groom, Sydney chose to do a series of first looks. First, she revealed her gorgeous wedding dress, complete with an incredible bow detail on the back, to her bridesmaids. Then, she shared a first look with her dad. Finally, she saw her brothers for the first time. We loved the focus she placed on her family!

During their ceremony, Sydney met Jake at the top of the aisle where they recited their vows in front of their family and friends. They chose to celebrate both their ceremony and reception in the same place, so these first moments were shared at Ma Maison. We would be remiss if we didn’t note the monogram that awaited S+J outside of the ceremony doors, and we also loved the candles and petals by Last Petal that lined the aisle. Plus, the natural light that streamed into the space was incredible!

Once they were officially married, Sydney and Jake stepped away together to enjoy their first meal as a couple alone. Although it’s tempting to share every moment with your guests, opting to eat together is a wonderful choice. It ensures you’re able to eat (!), and you can also share meaningful conversation uninterrupted. After all, you’ve just experienced a huge life change!

Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers before being welcomed into the reception space for dinner and dancing. The style of the centerpieces by Last Petal in the ballroom alternated between fresh white flowers in tall vases, candles paired with greenery, and bouquets from the bridesmaids. The variation added interest, and the gold signs created a custom look and feel.

Love and Happiness made sure there was plenty of dancing, including Sydney and Jake’s first dance and parent dances, and guests were happy to join them on the floor. Before the night could conclude, S+J cut their wedding cake by Sweet Treats Bakery, listened to toasts, and made sure to spend even more time on the dance floor.

Sydney and Jake, we loved working with you to plan your Ma Maison wedding day! Everything about it represented your story beautifully, and it was so wonderful to witness your family and friends joining together to make sure you felt completely loved.

Brazos Hall, Downtown Austin

Converted from a 1900's grain mill into an elegant mixed-use event venue with restored long-leaf pine floors, brick walls and wood rafters,  this turn-of-the-century warehouse building has loads of room and character.

They have two unique spaces- a Main Hall and a Rooftop Deck. In the Main Hall they can accommodate around 350 guests, depending on how you layout the room. The rooftop deck is a stunning bonus space that works great for ceremonies and cocktail hours.

One of our all-time favorite weddings was at Brazos Hall. Be sure to check it out here: Kady and Nathan’s Brazos Hall Wedding. Hop on over to the ‘gram here: Brazos Hall Instagram and browse their website here.

Four Seasons hotels have always been known for impeccable service and opulent accommodations. Their Austin property is no different!

This venue has amazing lakefront views and hidden gems around every corer. They have two spaces- the Lawn + the Ballroom. With room to host events of up to 550, it is a great option for a large wedding.

Jessica + Joel’s Four Seasons Austin wedding is another throwback that we love (we’ve worked with this family multiple times).

Ma Maison, Dripping Springs, TX

Nestled on 23 acres in the beautiful wine country just outside Austin, Texas, Ma Maison is a luxury wedding and event venue that combines the warmth of home with breathtaking European-inspired elegance. Inspired by their French heritage, their 10,000-square foot property and immaculately designed outdoor sites provide an oasis of natural beauty. They have several gorgeous outdoor sites to choose from - The Grove, The Green Cathedral (one of the most unique and recognizable parts of the property, in our option) and The Lake View. Between the spaces (and depending on the set-up), they can accommodate several hundred guests.

For covered and indoor spaces, they have The Trellis (a great plan B for outdoor weddings) and The Great Hall. The Chapel is a new addition that is under construction that we’re really excited about!

We’ve worked at Ma Maison quite a few times and never fail to love it! Check out these recent weddings: Eric + Liza | Carly + Caleb | Meredith + Stephen. Find Ma Maison on the gram here and browse their website here.

The Allan House, Downtown Austin

The Allan House is another Austin wedding venue that you’ll find us at often. This venue is a charming Victorian home built in 1883. The outdoor space is stunning! Although they have indoor and outdoor options, most of our couples prefer to enjoy festivities beneath the stars.

The Allan House is “Victorian charm and modern sophistication” to a T! The venue can accommodate 200 guests.

Wedding at Ma Maison - Austin Wedding Planner_0550.jpg

Carly and Colt’s wedding was hosted on a crisp February day at Ma Maison. These two were a breeze to work with- the day was dedicated to their love and focused on a laid-back yet, elegant celebration.

Austin Wedding Venue

The couple held their ceremony outside at The Grove. This is one of the shining stars of the venue- it has a built-in stone around and a gorgeous surrounding landscape of trees. The arch was decorated with a lush floral arrangement and the aisle was lined with burgundy rose petals. Wild Bunches accented the ceremony chairs with clusters of greenery (a variety of eucalyptus and a touch of hearty ruscus).

After a few photos (aren’t their pups adorable?!), it was time for their reception in The Great Hall. Almost 150 friends and family members joined the Newlyweds for a delicious buffet dinner and dancing.

Wedding Colors

The couple selected a beautiful mix of burgundy, ivory and peach, with plenty of greenery accents. Carly’s bouquet was absolutely gorgeous -the cascading burgundy amaranth added so much movement & dimension. It paired beautifully with the soft flowiness (we know this isn’t a real word, but it should be!) of her dress. We also loved the mixed styled bridesmaids’ dresses.

Reception at Ma Maison - Austin Wedding Planner_0497.jpg

When Plan B turns out just as pretty as Plan A, we’re happy campers! Meredith and Steven’s Ma Maison early spring wedding was one for the books. The decor was super chic, the couple an absolute blast and everyone a complete pleasure to work with.

Although the couple originally planned to get married in The Grove, the call was made to move the cocktail hour space, The Trellis. This indoor-outdoor space still offers a great view of the surrounding grounds, but much more protection from the elements. It was an absolutely gorgeous ceremony - but truthfully, the design elements would have been stunning just about anywhere! Big shout-out to Wild Bunches for being so great about the changes!

The couple was still able to take advantage of the grounds and got some stunning photos in front of The Green Cathedral (perhaps one of the most signature visuals at Ma Maison).

Eric & Liza's Ma Maison Wedding | Dripping Springs Wedding Designer & Planner

03_03_2019_Eric _ Liza Wedding-606.jpg

If you follow us on Instagram, you likely already know that we love Ma Maison weddings! This venue has so much to offer- lots of character, plenty of space and gorgeous landscapes. it’s one of our favorites in the Austin area and we’re thrilled to share Eric + Liza’s wedding day with you!

Although the weather wasn’t exactly cooperative (let’s say spring wasn’t feeling ready to be “sprung”), it was still a gorgeous day for this duo!

Wedding colors

Eric and Liza wanted a French Garden inspired theme. They couple went for a color palette that we’re calling a the new classic- white and blush, with touches of taupe, green and just a hint of purple. It was organic, without tipping the scales to boho. It was also fresh and light, which pairs great with Ma Maison’s warm wood interior .

Wedding Ceremony

Liza did a first look with her dad, as well as her brother. When we had the opportunity to see their photos, It was one of our favorite moments captured during the day. It didn’t surprise us one bit that everyone got a bit emotional- she looked stunning! Eric’s expression when she walked down the aisle was about as good as it gets! It was a tear-jerker as well and man, it just hit us right in the heart.

The couple said their vows outdoors, surrounded by the lush landscape of Ma Maison. The lovely built-in arch was covered in greenery and white, blush, lavender florals by the talented Stems Floral! The really made it look effortlessly beautiful.

Wedding Reception

The decor for Eric and Liza’s wedding was elegant and inviting. Again, greenery made a big statement, as well as a combination of high and low centerpieces in fluffy florals of white with blush and purple accents. The tables were accented with lovely taupe linens (but we have to say, they photographed so beautifully, emitting a bit of a metallic hue). We also loved the mixed metal look with all the rich wood tones and white florals. It all came together so beautifully- polished and pretty!
