Lounge Mr. & Mrs.

When planning a reception thinking of new and exciting ways to arrange the tables and chairs can be limited, so why not add some flare with a lounge area! It will make for a great cocktail hour location and place for your guests to mingle throughout the night.

Walking the Walk

I love having little ones participate in a wedding. However, when dealing with toddlers, you have to understand that they are not always going to do exactly what we want them to. Here are a few of my tried-and-true tricks for helping them get down the aisle as smoothly as possible:

a) Talk it up. Tell her how much fun it will be and how she is going to be the best little flowergirl ever.

b) Don't give them too many instructions. Don't bother with trying to tell them to walk slowly or more quickly or this way or that. Just tell them to walk to so-and-so and leave it at that. Little minds can't deal with too many instructions.

c) I'm not above bribery. My favorite: "If you make it all the way to so-and-so, I'll give you a piece of cake later tonight."

d) Don't have the parents wait in the back. Instead, have them seated in the front where they can easily be spotted.

e) Be prepared to have the maid or matron-of-honor walk with her if necessary.

Above all, always remember if you decide to have a cutie patutie proceed you down the aisle on your big day, roll with the punches and laugh if things don't end up exactly as you planned. That's the beauty of children: they are unpredictable.

Happy planning! Resha :-)

Special Note: Thank you to Erika with Azini Photography for capturing this amazing picture of my daughter at my sister-in-law's wedding in July ... the cutest little pea in the sea and best flower girl ever. But I'm not partial.

Jenn + Jay = Married!

Ahhhh, I love weddings. :) I love being a witness to the joining of two people who are clearly head-over-heels in love. And I love being able to help those lovebirds enjoy every second of their amazing day.

Jenn and Jay came to me via Darlene, one of my favorite former brides. They were looking for a day-of coordinator because they didn't want to deal with any stress on their wedding day. So smart.

Theirs ended up being a rainy day. But not to worry - I have lots of experience with rain plans at The Wildflower Center. We moved everything into the Gallery without a problem, thanks to a fabulous team of vendors (and my two fantastic assistants - Lauren and Celia).

Jenn and Jay - thank you so much for trusting me with the details of your day. I loved working with you. And I'm so excited to see your marriage grow - yay Facebook! :)

love,
jessica

Thanks to Sweet Caroline for the pics!

Get down and boogie!

One of the key factors in hosting a memorable event is music. Make sure yours is "boogie-worthy!" Whether you have your heart set on a 7 piece live band or a snazzy DJ mixing tunes, let STC help. We know the vendors who know how to keep your guests dancing the night away. Just ask!

Cheers! Resha

You can never be too prepared!

I was helping out at a friend's wedding where the bride and her sister have a terrible tendency to pass out if nervous/standing too long.. not ideal for the ceremony portion of the day! So the bride's dad made two ice chests full of snacks and drinks (this one even had a love note!) just incase! One was placed behind a door at the front where the ceremony was and the other in the back where the bridal party entered. But I am happy to say that everyone remained on their feet the whole time!

By the way.. we always come prepared too! Snacks are in our emergency kit just incase someone needs a little something to boost those blood sugar levels!
